Chelsea must do all they can to sign Karim Benzema now – Talk Chelsea

Chelsea would be silly if they are at least not looking into signing Karim Benzema this month.

Benzema has asked to leave Al-Ittihad, according to AFP. The Frenchman arrived in Saudi Arabia in the summer but has been frozen out by manager Marcelo Gallardo after returning back to training 17 days late.

His late return has been attributed to a storm in Mauritius, which left him stranded.

AFP report that Benzema has now asked to “temporarily” leave Al-Ittihad. Sources close to the Saudi club indicate that the striker has been offered the chance to go out on loan to another Saudi side, however, this offer has been rejected by the player.

The same source indicates that Benzema feels “unable to give the best version of himself due to the pressure.” The Frenchman’s performances have drawn heavy criticism from fans and pundits alike since making the move.

So, reading between the lines, it seems pretty clear that Benzema might actually be gettable on loan this month, and to me, Chelsea loaning in Benzema right now would be an absolute NO BRAINER!

Of course, he is on ridiculously big wages and for Chelsea to sign him he would need to waiver those big time for a bit, or Chelsea agree some sort of deal to cover some of his wages whilst on loan. Either way, Chelsea would not even consider a move with him on his current wages, or even on the wage he was on at Real Madrid. So that bit would be on the player and how badly he wants out for a bit. Surely, a player of that calibre would love a stint in the Premier League before he retires?

However, on Chelsea’s side, they should be trying at the very least, to sign one of the best ever strikers to play the game.

I don’t care that he is 36, Thiago Silva was also 36 when he joined Chelsea and he has since been one of our bests players for the last few seasons. Players of that quality, as long as they look after themselves, will be able to do it on the big stage well into their very late 30s.
