Daryl Dike back in full West Bromwich Albion training

Daryl Dike’s long and grueling wait to get back to playing looks to be coming to its end.

Dike returned to West Bromwich Albion training this week after being sidelined since February. The former Orlando City standout suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon last winter, which forced him to the sidelines for the past seven months.

“After you have a lot of injuries, it’s kind of easy to get a bit upset, but the one thing I tell myself is that I still have lots of time,” Dike told SBI in an exclusive interview earlier this month. “I am 24-years-old and I know there is always going to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Everyday I am here, I am working to get myself into the best position so that I can play a role for the team this season.”

Dike has scored eight goals in 32 combined appearances for West Brom since joining the squad in 2022. However, several serious injuries have hampered his time in England, forcing him to miss additional opportunities with the U.S. men’s national team.

He previously scored nine goals in 22 appearances for English side Barnsley, as well as 19 goals in 41 appearances with Orlando City.

West Brom has earned 13 points out of 15 available in the early stages of the EFL Championship season. Carlos Corberan’s squad will face Plymouth Argyle this weekend, which may come too early for Dike to play a part.
