Official: Barcelona in-form attacker named La Liga Player of the Month for August

After having made a scintillating start to the 2024/25 season, FC Barcelona winger Raphinha has been chosen the La Liga Player of the Month for August.

The 27-year-old Brazilian international has been in red-hot form since the start of the season, despite having had to play in an unfamiliar role at times.

So far, Raphinha has racked up three goals and two assists from Barcelona’s four La Liga matches, with all of his goals coming in a stunning hat-trick during the 7-0 win over Real Valladolid.

This is Raphinha’s first Player of the Month trophy in La Liga since he came to Spain’s top-flight in 2022 when he signed for Barcelona from Leeds United.

Raphinha’s triumph completes a hat-trick of La Liga awards for Barcelona for August as manager Hansi Flick was named the Coach of the Month and Lamine Yamal was chosen as the U23 Player of the Month.

Made one of the five captains for this season, Raphinha stated earlier today in an interview how he is enjoying his best moment at Barcelona since joining the club more than two years ago.

“I’m in my best moment so far here. I can still improve. and I think I can help the team a lot. We are very good. When you win the first 4 games, everything is easier,” he said.

With Barcelona set to return to action on Sunday against Girona, the Brazilian winger will hope to pick up from where he left off before the international break.
