Two young gun coaches go head-to-head

Two of the most exciting young football managers in the world go head-to-head this weekend as Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton host Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich.

Hurzeler is just 31 years old and has players in his squad, like James Milner, who are significantly older than him, while McKenna at 38 is a rookie by age standards in the English top flight also.

Brighton Recent Form

Brighton have enjoyed an excellent start to the new campaign and are unbeaten in four games in all competitions.

They started with an impressive 3-0 away win at Everton and then, in their first home game, they dramatically beat Man Utd thanks to a last-minute header from Joao Pedro.

Hurzeler’s charges emphatically progressed in the League Cup, beating Crawley 4-0, before impressively earning a 1-1 draw away at title challengers Arsenal.

Brighton Injury News

The main injury concern for Brighton surrounds star signing Matt O’Riley, who suffered an ankle injury minutes into his debut against Crawley. It came via a pretty needless, late tackle too.

There are fitness concerns over James Milner, Mats Wieffer, Ferdi Kadioglu and Joel Veltman, but none are serious and they could feature.

Brajan Gruda and Solly March are out.

Ipswich Recent Form

Ipswich are yet to win a game in the new season have have two losses and a draw to their name in the Premier League so far.

It hasn’t been a particularly easy run, though, as the two losses came away against Liverpool and Man City.

They drew 1-1 with Fulham last time out and were eliminated from the League Cup by Wimbledon on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

McKenna’s men have performed admirably enough in the league without many points to show for it.

Harry Clarke and George Hirst are out with calf and knee injuries respectively and both are expected to return next month.
