Mikel Arteta has agreed a new, three-year contract at Arsenal, according to a report in the Athletic.
The Spaniard’s existing deal was due to expire at the end of the season but he has now committed to the club until 2027.

Arteta succeeded Unai Emery in the role in 2019 having spent four years as part of Pep Guardiola’s staff at Manchester City.
Guardiola’s influence was easy to see as Arteta quickly moulded the Gunners into a high-press, possession-heavy team that, ironically, have now become City’s biggest challengers for the Premier League title.

Arsenal have finished as runners-up to City in each of the last two seasons, enabling them to return to the Champions League following a seven-year absence, as well as winning the FA Cup in 2020.
The news of Arteta’s deal will come as a big boost ahead of this weekend’s North London derby against Tottenham.
Arsenal go into the game without two key midfielders with Declan Rice suspended following his red card against Brighton and Martin Odegaard, who sustained an ankle injury on international duty with Norway.
