Newcastle handed double boost as Toon target Fulham return – Report

There’s some good news to share on the injury front, as two Newcastle United midfielder edge closer to comebacks.

As revealed by the Northern Echo, it’s believed Joe Willock was given the green light to resume training last week and is hoping to be back for next weekend’s trip to Fulham.

After limping off in last month’s Carabao Cup win at Nottingham Forest with a thigh issue, scans have revealed that the 25-year-old only suffered a minor muscle tear.

This Sunday’s trip to Wolves is expected to come too soon for Willock, but the player himself has hinted he’ll be back soon after posting a video on his Instagram story of him back in action at the club’s Benton training base.

Elsewhere, the Northern Echo add that Lewis Miley is yet to resume outdoor training but is making ‘good progress’ from a broken metatarsal and is expected back next month.

Callum Wilson was tipped to return after the current international break and Howe admitted to being “happy with his progress” when speaking before our win at Forest, but it’s not clear when our No.9 will be available again.

Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are continuing their recovery from ACL surgery, although neither will be rushed back, with Craig Hope reporting last week that Botman is targeting a December comeback.
