Gavi, Olmo send heartfelt well-wishes to Barcelona prodigy after serious injury

While Barcelona secured a third win in a row last night in the new La Liga season by beating Rayo Vallecano 2-1, the victory was marred by the injury of Marc Bernal.

The 17-year-old La Masia wonderkid started his third consecutive match in his debut season and put in a wonderful performance for the duration of the 90 minutes.

However, the youngster went down in pain in stoppage time after a challenge and it did not look good for the youngster.

While awaiting further tests to determine the exact extent of his injury, the young midfielder is understood to have a ruptured cruciate ligament in his knee and everything indicates that he will be out of action for a long time.

Gavi, Olmo send well-wishes

Gavi, who himself suffered an ACL injury last season and is still recovering, took to social media to send a message to young Bernal, showing his support at a difficult time for the 17-year-old midfield sensation.

“I know it’s hard but I’m sure you’ll come back like an animal! We are with you Marc Bernal,” wrote Gavi.

Meanwhile, Barcelona new signing Dani Olmo, who finally made his debut last night and capped it off with a match-winning goal, also sent a message to young Bernal.

“Lots of strength Marc Bernal! We are all with you,” the 26-year-old wrote.

Tests ongoing

Marc Bernal is undergoing tests with the Barça doctors today to determine exactly what his injury is although everything seems to point towards the rupture of the cruciate ligament.

An official confirmation should arrive soon once the tests are carried out and if the worst is confirmed, the 17-year-old sensation could potentially be out for the remainder of the season as he would require to undergo surgery.
