Barcelona management believes latest signing can play ‘in all positions’ in the attack and midfield

Barcelona’s acquisition of Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig has already begun to pay dividends, with the versatile midfielder making an immediate impact in his debut against Rayo Vallecano.

Signed in a high-profile deal earlier this summer, Olmo’s registration was delayed due to ongoing financial complications at the club.

However, his debut, which came just a day before the Rayo Vallecano clash, showcased exactly why Barcelona fought so hard to bring him to Camp Nou.

Olmo hovered in the final third almost in a free-form role, anchoring many of Barcelona’s attacks.

However, this created more confusion among Barcelona fans, especially when it comes to Olmo’s role in the new Barcelona team this season.

Olmo to be used everywhere?

Barcelona-based journalist Adrian Sanchez has informed Barça Universal that the club management believes that Olmo can excel in “all positions” across the attack and midfield.

This adaptability makes him a perfect fit for Hansi Flick’s tactical setup, where fluidity and interchangeability are crucial.

Olmo’s debut against Rayo Vallecano demonstrated his potential to be a game-changer.

Coming off the bench, he immediately injected energy and creativity into Barcelona’s attack, significantly raising the team’s threat level in the final third.

His audacious long-range effort nearly found the net, serving as a prelude to his eventual match-winning goal.

As the season progresses, Olmo is expected to be a pivotal figure in Barcelona’s campaign.

Whether deployed as a winger, a central midfielder, or even in a more advanced role, his versatility and quality are set to make him a guaranteed starter in Flick’s plans, Sanchez concluded.
