Juventus winger willing to wait for Barcelona approach – despite interest from Liverpool

Barcelona were dealt a massive blow to their pursuit of Federico Chiesa recently, as Premier League giants Liverpool also joined the race to sign the Italian international.

Chiesa is one of Barcelona’s desired alternatives for top target Nico Williams and the club are trying to make every possible attempt to acquire him from Juventus this summer.

But despite the interest from Liverpool, it appears Barcelona may have received the blessing from Chiesa himself.

Chiesa’s patience and commitment

According to Diario SPORT, Federico Chiesa has made his intentions clear: he wants to don the Blaugrana jersey.

The Juventus winger, who has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Liverpool, is determined to join Barcelona.

Despite the allure of the Premier League and Liverpool’s interest, Chiesa is prepared to wait for Barcelona to overcome their financial hurdles.

What are these financial hurdles?

The major stumbling block for Barcelona is not convincing Juventus to part with the talented winger, but rather navigating the complexities of La Liga’s financial fair play regulations.

The Catalan club must create sufficient salary space to accommodate Chiesa’s wages and the amortization of his transfer fee. This task is challenging, given Barça’s ongoing financial struggles, but not impossible.

Should Barcelona secure a new agreement with Nike, allowing them to revert to the more lenient 1:1 rule could be easier. This, in turn, could make it easier for Barcelona to register Chiesa.

If Barcelona can manage their financial fair play issues and complete the transfer window with the signings of Pau Victor, Dani Olmo, and Chiesa, the club’s attacking line will be significantly reinforced – perhaps enough to enable them to once again fight for the league title this season.
