A recent report has indicated that Julian Araujo’s prospects at Barcelona could be limited in light of his lack of prominence during the pre-season camp.
The Mexican international, despite coming on the back of a stellar loan spell at Las Palmas last season, had to operate in an unnatural right-back position in the first friendly against Man City.
In the following friendly against Real Madrid, Araujo was entirely out of contention, thus leading to speculation over his long-term future at the club.
Several La Liga clubs interested in Araujo
Amid speculation over his future, Adrian Sanchez is now claiming that several La Liga clubs have taken note of Julian Araujo.
Aware of the possibility of his departure from Barça, clubs such as Sevilla, Girona and Real Betis are keeping close tabs on the defender’s situation.
Araujo’s prospects at Barça are indeed slim, especially with Alex Valle making a strong impact with his performance against Real Madrid.
Barcelona also have Hector Fort and Jules Kounde as alternatives in the right-back position, whereas Joao Cancelo’s return has not been ruled out.
This could compel Barcelona to study potential offers for Julian Araujo, whose current contract at Camp Nou expires in 2026.
Although the Catalans might not consider the immediate sale of Araujo, especially given the way he impressed at Las Palmas last season.
However, a loan deal to another La Liga club could be a real possibility for the Mexican international, though the player, for his part, will be determined to prove a point in the last two weeks of pre-season.
