Barcelona set for €11 million windfall from pre-season tour to the US

Barcelona have kickstarted their tour to the United States and are set to face the first of the three friendlies this midweek, as they take on Manchester City.

In recent years, the US has been a lucrative destination for Barcelona, as far as monetisation is concerned. The big stadiums, coupled with various sponsorship opportunities have seen the club pocket a sizable income during this period.

How much will Barça earn this summer?

According to Gerard Romero, Barcelona are set for an €11 million windfall thanks to the pre-season trip to the United States this summer.

A total of €5 million will be earned from the upcoming El Clasico on August 4, with the two perennial rivals set to take each other on in New Jersey.

Barcelona are set to earn an additional €3 million each from the AC Milan and Manchester City friendlies.

This totals up to a figure of around €11 million, which is a sizable amount for Barcelona and could go a long way in helping them reach their economic goals.

This, after all, comes on the back of recent reports which suggest Barça are on track to return to the 1:1 rule.

Moreover, Barcelona’s flight and hotel costs have been covered by the organising company, meaning the club won’t have to make any additional expenditure from their end.

In such contracts, the organising company usually deducts money from the deal if there are important players missing.

Barcelona, though, are set to receive the entire windfall even with 10 first-team players missing from the US tour.
