Of all of Barcelona’s transfer targets this summer, Nico Williams has quickly emerged as the top priority.
The Athletic Club winger, who was one of Spain’s top-performing stars at Euro 2024, is Joan Laporta’s main target for the summer and Barcelona are focusing their financial resources towards his signing.
PSG have appeared on the horizon in recent days as possible competitors, but Barcelona appear to have an agreement in place with Williams’ agent. All that remains is the player’s green light.

According to a recent report from Jose Alvarez via El Chiringuito, Athletic Club are preparing for Williams’ departure.
They have, in fact, given the player a deadline of this weekend to decide his future and communicate an official response.

PSG and Barcelona are the two European giants in his pursuit, but the player could well decide to stay in the Basque country.
Nevertheless, a final decision from the three options is expected in the coming days.
Barcelona are confident
Nico Williams’ connection with Lamine Yamal is one of the key factors driving the player’s transfer, and Barcelona are confident that the player desires to link up with the Blaugrana next season.
In fact, the top transfer target was spotted with Yamal earlier today as well, raising speculation over a move to Catalonia.
Once the winger provides the green light from his end, the club will activate his €58 million release clause even if it requires a new loan to fund the same.
