Barcelona-linked forward training alone at parent club with future in limbo

This morning, Joao Felix showed up at Atletico Madrid’s training ground, even as the uncertainty surrounding his future continues, claims a report from SPORT. 

It must be noted that Felix was on loan at Barcelona last season, where he had a chance to prove himself in a different environment. Soon after his club commitments, he participated in the European Championship.

Unfortunately, his role in the tournament was limited, and he did not make a significant impact. As a result, he now finds himself in a situation where he is still unsure of where he will play this coming season.

Diego Simeone does not want Felix

Felix is contracted with Atletico Madrid until 2029, but his future at the club is uncertain. Atletico’s manager, Diego Simeone, has made it clear that he does not want Joao Felix as part of his squad. 

This sentiment is echoed by the Atletico fans, who made their feelings known when Felix visited the Metropolitano Stadium while on loan to Barcelona.

The reception he received was less than warm, highlighting the strained relationship between the player and the club.

Despite this, Felix is still listed on Barcelona’s website as part of their first team. However, this morning, he was seen training with Atletico Madrid, albeit alone with a physical trainer from the club. 

What next for Felix now?

Barcelona initially hoped to extend Felix’s loan for another season. Although he only had a few standout performances, the club was considering keeping him on. 

However, Barcelona’s interest in other players, such as Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, seems to have shifted their focus away from him. The outcome of Barcelona’s efforts to secure these Spanish internationals could significantly impact Felix’s future with the club.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are aware that Felix cannot continue playing for them and is actively seeking a solution.
