Barcelona close in on finalising new sponsors for shorts, income to help with Fair Play

FC Barcelona continue to look for new sources of income to be able to meet the sporting and institutional challenges that lie ahead.

Investment from new sponsorship agreements is one of the ways that the Blaugrana have been looking to generate revenue and they appear to have found a fresh source of income.

Barcelona set to have new short sponsors

Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are close to finalising a sponsor for the first-team shorts which would help the club bring in some cash into the coffers.

It is an area that had not been explored by the Blaugrana up until now, but during the board meeting earlier this week, this possibility was discussed as there is an option for Barça to incorporate a sponsor for the first team shorts.

Barça have been working on the exploration of this asset since last season.

As it has never been previously used by the club, it would mean an injection in the club’s profit and loss account and in the ‘Fair Play’ section because nothing has ever been paid for this space and that counts in favour in this sense.

The Catalans have been working hard to improve their financial situation so as to return to the favourable 1:1 Fair Play rule.

As such, any income would be helping the club in that regard and a few millions from a sponsorship agreement for the first-team shorts could be a step in that direction.
