It has been well over a month since Hansi Flick took charge of FC Barcelona as the first-team manager replacing club legend Xavi Hernandez.
And, today, the German tactician granted his first proper interview with the club’s media channel, during which he revealed how managing the Blaugrana had been a dream ever since he took up coaching while also naming a club legend as an inspiration.
Always inspired by Barcelona
Discussing how he always wanted to join Barcelona and shedding light on what aspects of the club appealed to him, the 59-year-old said:
“When I decided to become a coach I looked at Barça because they played fantastic football. You can see how they develop the players, everyone talks about it and also the passion that you feel here is incredible, and that’s why we are happy to be here.
“From the first day I could feel it, everyone shows respect, it’s incredible what we are experiencing.”

Flick then touched upon how he could feel the passion from everyone in and around the club, insisting that it motivates him and his staff to take the team to the next level.
“I have felt it from day one, the passion that people have here, the fans, the president… everyone here who works for Barça has this passion, the devotion to give the best for this club,” he said.
“This is also great for us, because we want to be part of this club and we also want to live with this passion, this devotion, because we want to give everything we have to take this club to the next level, I don’t know but we will do our best.”
Finally, Flick revealed that he studied and learned a lot from the way Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff set his teams up, stating:
“Since the beginning of my coaching career, my dream was always to coach Barça. I studied Dutch football and everything related to Johan Cruyff.”
Flick will be officially presented as the manager of FC Barcelona…
