Exciting winger receives Newcastle call as five join Eddie Howe in Germany

Newcastle United flew out to Germany on Monday to begin their pre-season training camp at the Adidas HQ in Herzogenaurach.

It’s the same state-of-the-art training centre that hosted the German national team during Euro 2024 and a host of U21 talents have been handed the chance to impress as we step up our preparations for the 2024/25 season.

One player mixing it with our first-team stars is Trevan Sanusi; an exciting 17-year-old winger who has made a real impression during his first season on Tyneside.

Alongside Jamie Miley – Lewis’ older brother – former AC Milan centre-back Cathal Heffernan, midfielder Jay Turner-Cooke and Aussie talent Garang Kuol, Sanusi is training with the senior squad and pushing to show Howe what he’s capable of after an impressive spell within our Academy ranks.

The England U17 international arrived from Birmingham 12 months ago, leaving the Midlands club just a few months after he was named on their bench for a Championship fixture, leaving him moments away from breaking Jude Bellingham’s record as the youngest player to represent the Blues.

Since then, it’s not taken him long to outgrow our U18 side, as we saw him feature regularly in our UEFA Youth League campaign – where bagged an assist in a 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund – and score once in three outings for our U21s in the Premier League 2.

Patience is needed, but Sanusi has genuine pace, trickery and the ability to make something happen out of nowhere, making him one to watch in what promises to be another big season for his early development and push towards senior minutes.
