Official: Barcelona 16-year-old attacking prospect signs new contract with club

Barcelona youngster Oscar Gistau has signed a new contract with the club today, it has been officially confirmed.

The 16-year-old striker forward signed the renewal at the Ciutat Esportiva accompanied by José Ramón Alexanko, the person in charge of the youth football at Barça.

Oscar, 16, is widely regarded as one of the most talented young attacking talents in the La Masia ranks who is enjoying a rapid progression.

Despite being 15 (turned 16 in March), the youth striker was a part of the Barcelona Juvenil A (Under-19) setup, even playing 15 official matches. The number could have been higher if not for an injury he sustained in April.

Gistau, who had trained with the Barça senior setup once or twice under Xavi, is understood to have penned a three-year deal which is the norm for a minor, meaning his new deal will run until 2027.

An agreement over the new deal for the youngster had already been reached a few weeks ago and now he has officially put pen to paper on the contract.

The young striker will now hope to cement a place in the Juvenil A side under Juliano Belletti while also hoping to get a look-in in the Barça Atletic setup following the exits of Marc Guiu and Pau Victor.
