Newcastle United have released an in-depth interview with CEO Darren Eales today, who covers everything from our transfer business so far to PSR, Paul Mitchell’s arrival and the depature of Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi.
Eales confirms that we are at the start of a new cycle from a PSR perspective, revealing that we are compliant with the Premier League’s financial rules and in a position to spend after selling both Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh; two players reluctantly sold last month.
As you can watch via the video above, Eales also hails the arrival of Paul Mitchell – “one of the top sporting directors in the world” – and insists the club are “always striving” to improve the squad before hinting at the announcement of more commercial deals in the coming months.
Eales also pays tribute to departing co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, describing them as “forces of nature” who will be fans for life.
On our ambitions for the new season, he discusses our push to get the club back into Europe, improve on last season’s 7th place finish in the Premier League and compete in the cups once again.
