Netherlands take on Austria in Berlin knowing a win could see them top Group D. They go into their final pool game level on points with France, who play Poland, but ahead of Les Bleus on goals scored.
Ronald Koeman’s men have yet to really sparkle at Euro 2004 but two solid performances have put them in a good position.
They won’t find it easy against Austria, however. Ralf Rangnick’s men have been one of the surprise packages so far with their high tempo game earning plenty of admirers. It wasn’t enough to get them a point against France but they hit back well to beat Poland 3-1. A point against the Dutch is likely to be enough to see them through.
Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk is expecting a tricky evening. He said: “We all know that the Austria game will be difficult for many reasons. The intensity is going to be high. We need to analyse the game and see where we can hurt them. That will be the focus.”
