USMNT stays at No. 11 in June FIFA Rankings

The U.S. men’s national team stayed just outside of the Top 10 in the first FIFA Rankings of the summer.

The Americans stayed at No. 11 after a 0-1-1 record during their friendly schedule earlier this month. Gregg Berhalter’s squad suffered a lopsided 5-1 loss to Colombia before tying Brazil 1-1.

Christian Pulisic and Tim Weah both celebrated goals in the matches.

The 5-1 loss to Colombia was the largest margin of defeat for the USMNT during Berhalter’s two spells as head coach. However, their 1-1 draw with Brazil marked the first time in which the Americans tied the South American giants.

Mexico dropped to No. 15 while Panama and Canada rose to No. 43 and No. 48 respectively. Costa Rica and Honduras rounded out the top-six CONCACAF nations.

2022 FIFA World Cup winners Argentina remained in the No. 1 spot while runners-up France stayed in the No. 2 place. Belgium stayed as the No. 3-ranked team while Brazil leapfrogged England into the No. 4 spot and the Three Lions fell to No. 5.

Portugal, Netherlands, Spain, Croatia, and Italy rounded out the Top 10 overall.

The USMNT’s 2024 schedule continues on Sunday with the first of three Copa America group stage matches. Bolivia will oppose the Americans in Arlington, Texas before Panama and Uruguay also meet the USMNT in Group C play.
