With Robert Lewandowski approaching the twilight of his career and summer signing Vitor Roque failing to impress so far, Barcelona are actively searching for a new striker to bolster their attacking options.
While Lewandowski will continue to lead the Barcelona frontline under Hansi Flick next season, the club, sooner or later, must find a new striker ready to replace the Pole in the years to come.
This has prompted Barcelona to explore the transfer market and Liverpool’s Luis Diaz has emerged as one of the top candidates.
PSG join race to sign Luis Diaz
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are set to face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Diaz.
PSG are looking to replace Kylian Mbappe, who has recently joined Real Madrid. Diaz is seen as an ideal fit for the left-wing position at the Parc des Princes, with his intensity, speed, and boldness aligning well with manager Luis Enrique’s style of play.

Barcelona, for their part, rate Diaz quite highly. The Liverpool star is particularly admired by sporting director Deco.
Diaz to cost €75 million
Acquiring the services of Luis Diaz is not going to be an easy task for either of these clubs. Liverpool are aware of the interest from both clubs and value the player at around €75 million.
This could greatly put off Barcelona, in particular, as the Catalans are still striving to return to the 1:1 rule, which would allow them to spend every €1 they generate.
To achieve this, they need to bring in significant revenue through player sales and other business ventures, such as partnerships with Nike and the sale of Barça Studios.
For the time being, Barça have achieved neither, though the club are in advanced talks with Nike that could serve as a massive economic boost for the Catalans.
