Barcelona ready to veto forward’s loan move to La Liga rivals, prefer permanent sale

In the coming days, Barcelona will welcome back a number of their players who were loaned out last year, one of whom happens to be Ansu Fati.

The 21-year-old failed to make the most of his time at Brighton & Hove Albion but still harbours hopes of succeeding at Barça even though the chances of him staying are slim.

With new manager Hansi Flick in charge now, the Spanish forward could get an opportunity to impress during the pre-season, although a lot of things would need to fall in place for him to continue at the club.

Barcelona against Fati joining Sevilla

There has been talk of Sevilla wanting to sign Ansu Fati on loan in the summer if he fails to convince Flick.

However, according to SPORT, Barcelona are prepared to veto the La Masia forward’s move to Los Nervionenses in the summer.

The Blaugrana do not view such a move favourably due to multiple reasons.

For starters, the loan switch will not be financially attractive for Fati as Sevilla would only cover 30% of the attacker’s wages, leaving the major burden of his salary on the Catalans.

Furthermore, the relationship between the two clubs has been strained in recent times after former Sevilla president, Pepe Castro, refused to be in the Montjuic box due to the Negreira case.

Barcelona prefer permanent sale

As things stand, Barcelona prefer selling Ansu Fati permanently rather than loaning him out for another season.

However, there are not many takers to secure his services full-time, with only teams from Saudi Arabia willing to do so at this point.

As such, Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is working to find different solutions for the 21-year-old, although both he and the player wish for Barcelona to give him a chance in pre-season before taking a call on his future.
