Arsenal ace eyed by Villa, Palace and more

Arsenal attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe is attracting interest from a long list of transfer suitors in England and Europe this summer, sources have told CaughtOffside.

Smith Rowe can leave the Emirates Stadium for a fee in the region of €35million, though the player’s preference is to stay at Arsenal, and he is expected to make talks over his Gunners future a priority.

The 23-year-old could have the chance to play more regularly if he moves on, however, after a difficult couple of years in which he’s fallen down the pecking order in Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad.

Sources with a close understanding of the situation have informed CaughtOffside that Fulham and Wolves are interested in signing Smith Rowe on loan, while Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are considering permanent moves for the player.

There is also understood to be some interest from Napoli, but not as advanced for the moment, while Charles Watts has previously told CaughtOffside via his Daily Briefing column that Smith Rowe would likely prefer to stay in the Premier League anyway.

Smith Rowe could be a useful sale for Arsenal in terms of bringing in pure profit due to being a homegrown player, but there’ll likely be some Gooners who are unsure about losing the England international.

Arteta will need a deep squad if he is to keep his team competitive next season, so someone like Smith Rowe being able to come in and cover a variety of positions would surely be useful when there will surely be a few injuries and suspensions to deal with at some point.
