Sporting KC-FC Dallas headline U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal draw

The 2024 U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal field is set.

Thursday’s draw featured all eight winners from this week’s Round of 16 action, which includes five MLS clubs. LAFC, Seattle Sounders, FC Dallas, Sporting KC, and Atlanta United all advanced to the quarterfinals, and will be joined by New Mexico United, Sacramento Republic, and Indy Eleven.

The Round of 16 schedule will take place between July 9-11.

Sacramento Republic pulled the biggest upset of the Round of 16, defeating the San Jose Earthquakes 4-3. The USL Championship will seek another upset in the final eight, with the Seattle Sounders making the trip to California.

LAFC and Sporting KC both rolled to Round of 16 victories while Atlanta United needed a penalty-kick shootout to defeat the Charleston Battery 5-4. New Mexico United breezed past MLS NEXT Pro opponents NYCFC II by a 3-0 scoreline.

FC Dallas edged the Tampa Bay Rowdies 2-1, Indy Eleven routed Detroit City FC 3-0, and the Seattle Sounders defeated Phoenix Rising 2-1.

Both the Seattle Sounders and Sporting KC have won the competition three times apiece in their history, while FC Dallas has won it twice, and Atlanta United has lifted the trophy once.
