Barcelona place 20-year-old La Masia graduate on the transfer market

With the La Liga season in its last week and the second-place finish locked in Barcelona are fully focusing on the summer transfer window.

While the situation surrounding Xavi Hernandez and his continuity is a concern, sporting director Deco and his team are simultaneously laying out the roadmap for the summer to make tweaks to the squad.

As is well-established by this point, there will be a few sales, with only a handful of players regarded as ‘non-transferable’ by the Catalans.

Alejandro Balde on the market

As such, Diario AS reports that Barcelona have placed Alejandro Balde on the transfer market for the summer, meaning offers for the 20-year-old will likely be studied by the club.

Balde, a La Masia graduate, took over as the first-choice left-back in the senior team last season, displacing Jordi Alba.

The young Spaniard signed a new contract last year and was even handed the No. 3 shirt by the club heading into the 2023/24 campaign.

Balde, though, did not enjoy the best of the seasons, before an injury in January brought an end to his campaign prematurely.

The 20-year-old is currently in the final phase of his recovery from injury, and is seemingly placed on the list of transferable players if a big offer arrives.

Barcelona, for their part, are understood to have turned down an offer from the Premier League for Balde in January already.

As such, there is unlikely to be a shortage of suitors for the 20-year-old, if he is indeed available in the summer.

The Catalan heavyweights, though, will command a significant fee for one of the brightest academy talents if they do decide to part ways with him.
