Mehrdad Ghodoussi has issued a message of thanks to Newcastle United fans and shared his thoughts on a ‘challenging season’ for the club.
Speaking on X after our 4-2 win over Brentford, our co-owner said: ‘Thank you to each and every one of you for your unwavering support throughout this challenging season. Despite the numerous hurdles we faced, including significant injuries, our collective spirit and determination has shone through.
‘Finishing 7th this season is a remarkable achievement, and it would not have been possible without the resilience of our players, the dedication of our staff, and the relentless backing from our amazing supporters. Together, we have proven what we can accomplish, and I am excited for what next season holds for us. Thank you for being a part of this journey.’
He’s right. There’s been so many hurdles – injuries, fatigue, that disastrous December, FFP limiting us in January and some rough away form – but we’ve ended it all with a strong finish and hopefully Europa Conference League football.
As Ghodoussi says, the players and Eddie Howe have shown real resilience. Just imagine what we could’ve achieved with a fully fit squad, some kinder cup draws and better officiating in Europe! Bring on next season.
