Newcastle closing in on double deal? – Fabrizio Romano reveals what he’s heard after talks

Fabrizio Romano believes Newcastle’s move for Lloyd Kelly is expected to “advance really fast” over the next few weeks, with the club also “really pushing” to beat Premier League rivals to Tosin Adarabioyo.

The transfer expert claims Kelly is a “top target” for the club and a player Newcastle are “really confident” of signing as the versatile left-sided defender prepares to leave Bournemouth on a free.

As for Adarabioyo, another out-of-contract centre-back, Romano reveals that talks to sign the 26-year-old are “still ongoing”. Chelsea and Man Utd remain in the mix, but Howe is a big fan of the player and hopes to sign both.

Speaking about both deals on the Here We Go podcast, he said: “Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth, top target and Newcastle are really confident to make it happen. Kelly and Newcastle, the expectation is for the deal to advance really fast in the next weeks,” Romano said.

“They are still working on Tosin Adarabioyo. Chelsea also called about him and Man Utd are also informed on the situation, but Newcastle are really pushing. Eddie Howe appreciates the player, so Newcastle could sign both centre-backs.

“From what I’m hearing Kelly is really advanced and negotiations with Tosin Adarabioyo are still ongoing.”

Yesterday, The Mail’s Craig Hope revealed that Tosin was ‘leaning towards’ a move to Newcastle after talks and assurances over his role in the squad, while others report that our offer for the defender is a very good one.

Romano seems to think Kelly is edging closer and several outlets believe we’re the frontrunners for Tosin. Fingers crossed, as these would be two smart moves at the start of a busy summer, allowing us to strengthen our injury-ravaged defence without spending a great deal.
