With Barcelona scouring the market for a new forward who can play on the left flank, the name of former La Masia prospect, Dani Olmo, has been sounded out as a possible target.
The 26-year-old, currently plying his trade for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, has been a target for Xavi Hernandez ever since he took over the reins as Barça manager.
The interest in the Spanish international has only intensified heading into the summer, with Barça eager to add more dynamism and threat to their left flank next season.
Olmo dreams of Barcelona
Now, SPORT reports that Barcelona’s interest is being reciprocated by Dani Olmo, who dreams of playing for the Catalan heavyweights in his career.
The report claims that Olmo is a true ‘Cule‘, having spent seven years in Barça’s youth ranks until he left for Dinamo Zagreb in 2014.
Even though Olmo left Barcelona almost a decade ago, the versatile forward’s love for the Blaugrana remains intact and returning to the club of his life is a dream that he maintains.

Move impossible as Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ attentive
However, despite the player’s willingness towards returning to Barcelona and Xavi’s insistence on signing him, a move for Olmo is seen as pretty much impossible.
Olmo has a clause of €60 million, affordable for any big European club, but not for Barcelona with their decimated economy. In addition, the forward’s salary is also significant.
Furthermore, Barcelona would also face stiff competition from the Premier League clubs following in his footsteps. The ‘Big Six’ – Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham, are on the prowl as well.
The summer could be a busy one for Olmo as he may have to decide whether to continue at RB Leipzig or take the next step in his career.
However, the opportunity to live the dream by playing for Barça may have to wait.
