Man Utd’s £80m man ruled out of Newcastle clash as injury crisis goes from bad to worse

The bank holiday weekend has gone from bad to worse for Man Utd, who’ve not only dropped to 8th but lost yet another defender to injury in Harry Maguire.

The Red Devils are already in the midst of an injury crisis at the back, with Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Willy Kambwala, Jonny Evans. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out. Bruno Fernandes is also a doubt for their Monday night clash at Crystal Palace, with Marcus Rashford ruled out.

Maguire had been one of their more reliable performers this season, but is now expected to be missing for the next three weeks, ruling him out of their remaining four games against Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Newcastle and Brighton.

In a brief statement released by the club on Sunday evening the club said, ‘Harry Maguire has sustained a muscle injury that will keep him out for about three weeks.’

We currently sit two points above the Red Devils and will go into next weekend ahead of Ten Hag’s side if they fail to win at Selhurst Park.
