Barcelona will not sanction a loan move for 19-year-old wonderkid amid rumours

Vitor Roque has endured a tough initiation at FC Barcelona since joining from Athletico Paranaense in January.

The 19-year-old’s signing was secured last summer itself in a deal worth €61 million (including add-ons), but he was left in Brazil to continue his progression.

Even though the initial plan was to bring Roque to the club in the summer of 2024, Barcelona fast-tracked the process and roped him in during the winter itself, making use of the Fair Play margin created following Gavi’s season-ending injury.

However, Roque has barely played since joining Barça, with Xavi constantly preferring Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, and even Marc Guiu on instances, ahead of the Brazilian.

It has given way to speculations that Roque could be allowed to leave Barcelona on loan in the summer.

Barcelona not considering Roque loan departure

However, as per Mundo Deportivo, as things stand, Barcelona are not considering the prospect of loaning Vitor Roque out for the next season.

It is true that the Brazilian has not received minutes in important matches in La Liga and in the Champions League.

However, the 19-year-old striker is a bet of the club for the future and will continue as the backup for Robert Lewandowski next season.

At the moment, a loan exit will not be sanctioned, unless the player himself asks to go out on a temporary spell.

Since joining the club in the winter window, Roque has played just 13 times across all competitions, totalling up to 310 minutes of on-field action, in which he has two goals.

While the situation is far from ideal, it must be noted that the teenager is playing outside Brazil for the first-time ever and needs time to adapt, more so to the ways of Barcelona.
