Barcelona do not rule out a loan departure for €61 million forward

Vitor Roque was Barcelona’s biggest bet in the winter transfer window. The club made arrangements to bring in the former Athletico Paranaense star in January, as they were desperately looking for reinforcements in the attacking department.

Roque, who was signed for a deal worth €61 million (including add-ons) last summer itself, was coming on the back of a stellar spell in his native Brazil and many expected him to become an instant hit at Barcelona.

However, as we approach the end phase of the campaign, Roque has struggled to adapt to conditions in Spain so far, which has also led to uncertainty over his future at the club.

Loan move not ruled out for Vitor Roque

Vitor Roque’s slow start to his spell in Catalonia is quite alarming for Barcelona and it is evident that the youngster requires a bit more time to settle into top-flight European football.

Keeping that in mind, SPORT suggests that Barcelona have not entirely ruled out the prospect of loaning Roque in the coming summer.

With a total of just over 300 minutes of footballing action and a tally of just two goals in 13 appearances, Roque does require more game-time and experience if he is to succeed at Barcelona.

A loan move, therefore, could be an ideal solution.

Strong competition from Marc Guiu

Even if Vitor Roque ends up staying at Barcelona next season, the forward’s life is not going to get easier.

Robert Lewandowski has returned to form and will continue as Barça’s main man upfront next season. In addition, Xavi has many other talents at his disposal, including Ferran Torres and most notably, Marc Guiu.

The youngster has made a solid impression with his cameos this season and deserves more game-time in the senior side.

Xavi, for his part, appears to trust Guiu a lot and it won’t be surprising to see the young Spaniard become a reliable option for Barcelona next season, which in turn, could further…
