David Moyes has told friends he’s leaving

It’s been quite the season for West Ham again in 2023/24.

Up until the turn of the year, the Hammers were in a reasonable position but their Premier League form has tailed off since January.

A 6-0 home drubbing by Arsenal saw thousands of Irons fans walk out of the London Stadium at half-time when they were already 4-0 down, and a recent 5-2 thumping at Crystal Palace only added to the club’s woes.

Getting to the Europa League quarter-finals, only to be denied by Bayer Leverkusen, has been a bright spot amongst the gloom, but it appears that manager, David Moyes, has now finally admitted defeat.

David Moyes will leave West Ham this summer

According to Football Insider sources, the Scot has privately admitted to friends that he will leave West Ham at the end of the current campaign.

It was believed that the club were happy enough with him pre-Arsenal to offer him a contract extension, however, the manner in which the Hammers were beaten by Mikel Arteta’s side appears to have been a real turning point.

In hindsight, the best time for Moyes to have gone would’ve been at the end of last season after the Europa Conference League final win.

David Moyes should’ve left West Ham after the Europa Conference League triumph

He could’ve left with his head held high and his reputation intact.

If West Ham were forward thinking enough too, they could’ve paid him off for the final year of his contract and gone in a new direction.

That they didn’t means that they’ve got to the end of yet another season and haven’t really progressed. It’s the same old, same old, year in and year out.
