Jurgen Klopp makes Mohamed Salah claim after Liverpool exit

Jurgen Klopp has stated that Mohamed Salah’s form for Liverpool is not worrying him.

After falling to Atalanta 3-1 on aggregate in the quarterfinals of the Europa League, the Reds were eliminated.

Liverpool faced an uphill struggle going into the return match in Italy after losing the first leg 3-0 at Anfield.

When Trent Alexander-Arnold won a penalty in the fifth minute, Klopp’s team got off to the ideal start.

With his 23rd goal of the season, Salah took the penalty kick and gave the visitors a lifeline.

However, the Egyptian had difficulty for a large portion of the match, wasting a fantastic opportunity just before halftime, and was replaced in the 66th minute.

After returning from a hamstring injury last month, Salah hasn’t been playing at his best.

Regarding the 31-year-old’s current situation, Klopp feels at ease.

Speaking at his post-Atalanta press conference, Klopp said, as quoted by Liverpool Echo:

“I’m not part concerned. That’s what strikers do, that’s what happens to strikers. He has to go through that, he’s one of the most experienced players in the squad. That’s pretty much it.

“It’s not that Mo didn’t miss chances before in his life, that’s part of the game. The penalty was super-convincing, a super penalty then the next chance was unlucky but it’s not the first time he misses a big chance like that.

“I don’t make a big story about it, what you make of it I have no influence but no I’m not particularly concerned.”

Liverpool still have the Premier League to play for

With Liverpool out of the Europa League now, their only chance of winning another trophy this season remains the Premier League.
