South-east European nations gather in Tirana for UEFA powwow

April 17 – Eleven UEFA national associations from Southeast Europe convened on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Albanian Football Association in Tirana for the UEFA Strategic National Associations meeting.

Following the meeting all of them reaffirmed their unconditional support for the UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin.
Hosted by Albanian FA President and UEFA Vice-President, Armand Duka, the gathering focused on critical aspects of UEFA’s football development strategy, covering:

the future format of UEFA club competitions post-2024 and the accompanying new solidarity programme
discussions on refereeing matters and upcoming developments
benchmarking data and analysis in sporting areas and finance
exploration of betting systems and emerging opportunities for the participating countries.

Representatives from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, and Albania were at the meeting.
After the presentations, the national associations discussed regarding the future of European football, with all participants unanimously expressed unwavering support for UEFA president Aleksander Ćeferin and the UEFA administration.

Ceferin has said that his current term of leadership will be his last at UEFA, ending in 2027, though as yet there is no credible alternative or obvious successor.
