Who can Barcelona count on if PSG clash goes into penalty shootouts?

Following a 3-2 win in the first leg, Barcelona only require a win this evening as they take on Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the quarterfinal.

While the job has been much easier thanks to the triumph in the first leg, coach Xavi Hernandez cannot rule out any possibilities.

Should PSG secure a goal by one goal margin and the two teams stay level at extra time, the game might go to penalties.

Who are the most prolific penalty-takers for Barcelona?

In case the game does go into penalties, Barcelona have enough players who can keep calm and convert those spot kicks.

Robert Lewandowski is the undisputed choice for Barcelona when it comes to penalties. The Pole has taken 87 penalties throughout his career, converting 78 of them. This accounts for a success rate of 90%.

Ilkay Gundogan falls second in line. The German has taken 21 penalties, converting 17 of them. His success rate of 81% isn’t bad either. He has also taken two penalties with Barça, though he did miss one of them.

Moving on, Joao Felix and Raphinha have remarkable records when it comes to penalties. The former has taken nine penalties, converting eight of them, whereas Raphinha has converted seven out of eight. However, Felix has never taken any kicks in Barça colours.

Down in the pecking order

In case any of these four players falter, Barcelona have enough stars they can rely on when it comes to scoring from 11 metres.

Ronald Araujo, for one, has converted three out of five penalties during his career. Ferran Torres, too, has scored in three out of four. However, neither of these players have ever scored a penalty for Barça.

A standout name in Barcelona’s ‘B List’ could be Vitor Roque. The Brazilian whizkid has converted all four penalties in his career so far and could be the club’s ‘fifth option’.

Frenkie de Jong and Oriol Romeu, too, have a hundred percent conversion…
