Barcelona superstar 100% fit despite suffering ‘wear and tear’ on national team duty

Robert Lewandowski was one of the very few Barcelona players who picked up a knock during the recently concluded international break.

The Polish international led Poland to Euro 2024 after a victory over Wales. But in doing so, the forward had to play 120 minutes of football, which took a severe toll on his body.

During the second half, Lewandowski was seen clutching his thigh at times and even required medical attention. This led to fears over a potential injury for the veteran forward.

No injury for Lewandowski

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo, though, has clarified that there are no worries in the Barcelona camp over Lewandowski’s fitness.

After suffering wear and tear during the international break, the Polish went through several tests in Barcelona, almost immediately after his arrival in the city.

Tests carried out ruled out any injuries for Lewandowski and it appears the Barcelona striker is fully fit heading into the resumption of club football.

Lewandowski cleared for Las Palmas game

In fact, Lewandowski has been cleared fit for tonight’s game against Las Palmas, in what could serve as a massive boost for Xavi Hernandez.

Although there will be concerns over Lewandowski potentially being worn out after featuring in a total of 45 matches since the start of the season, Xavi has made it clear that he counts on the Pole to drive Barcelona forward.

Lewandowski, after all, has left behind his poor start to the season and is now one of Barça’s most consistent performers.

Nevertheless, it won’t be surprising to see Lewandowski being taken off a little early against Las Palmas, as Xavi keeps one eye on next month’s crucial Champions League quarterfinal tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
