Portsmouth will look to continue their march towards the League One title with a victory against Wycombe on Friday.

Pompey are currently five points ahead of Derby in second and have a game in hand over their championship rivals, too.

Wycombe, on the other hand, don’t have much left to play for this campaign as, barring a disastrous run, they are free of a relegation battle, while they are a long way off the play off spots.

Since the loss against Barnsley at the start of March, Wycombe have went on a run of three victories in a row versus Reading, Wigan and Northampton.

The nine points gained recently have pretty much confirmed their League One status for next season.

Portsmouth’s current form

At the beginning of the year, Portsmouth lost two games in a row against Cheltenham and Leyton Orient, but since then they have went on a superb run of 12 matches unbeaten, winning nine in that time.

In their last game, they overcame Peterborough 1-0 at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Team News

David Wheeler is available for selection for Wycombe after serving a suspension, but the hosts will likely be without Kane Vincent-Young and Brandon Hanlan due to injury.

Portsmouth may be riding high at the top of the league but they aren’t without their issues, particularly with regards to injuries. Alex Robertson, Terry Devlin, Joe Morrell, Tom Lowery, Regan Poole and Tom McIntyre are all likely to miss to the game against Wycombe.

They could be boosted by the returns of Ben Stevenson and Tino Anjorin, however.

Wycombe may be on a good run, but Portsmouth undoubtedly have much more to play for here and their quality should shine through.
