Bundesliga wonderkid names 24-year-old Barcelona forward as his inspiration

Barcelona boast many Golden Boy winners within their ranks, with Gavi, Pedri, and Joao Felix all recipients of this prestigious accolade.

Felix won the award back in 2019 following a breakthrough season with Portuguese side SL Benfica.

Only 20 years old at the time, the forward managed to surpass numerous other gifted individuals to the top of the list.

Despite enduring a tumultuous time in Europe since winning the award, he has always rekindled the flashes of brilliance that captivated onlookers when he was a teenager.

And it appears one of Europe’s most gifted talents holds him in especially high regard, deeming the Barcelona winger to be one of his biggest inspirations.

Florian Wirtz an admirer of Felix

Indeed, SPORT have come out to shed light on the fact that recent interviews have shown Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Wirtz to be candid about his adoration for Joao Felix, who served as an inspiration for his own creative style.

“He is a type of player similar to mine, he is very creative and I learned that from him,” the Bayer Leverkusen man professed.

For a while now, Wirtz has been drawn to Barcelona due to his respect for the Catalans’ unique playing style as well as the club’s prominence.

But the difficult financial situation Barcelona finds themselves in makes any chance of his move highly implausible in the foreseeable future.

Felix’s future up in the air

Currently on loan from Atletico Madrid, Joao Felix’s contract with Barcelona expires on June 30, which leaves his future clouded in uncertainty.
