Americans Abroad Player of the Week: Alex Zendejas

Alex Zendejas did not start in Club America’s trip to Atlas on Saturday night, but it didn’t stop him from delivering a productive shift in the eventual lopsided victory.

Zendejas came off the bench, scored two goals, and added one assist in Club America’s 5-1 triumph over Atlas. The U.S. men’s national team winger earned SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors for his impactful outing.

Club America erased an early deficit and eventually grabbed hold of the match in the second half. Zendejas extended the visitors’ lead to 3-1 in the 76th minute before doubling his tally only six minutes for a 4-1 advantage.

Zendejas connected with Henry Martin in the 87th minute for Club America’s fifth and final goal of the match. The 26-year-old will now prepare for a trip to Chivas de Guadalajara in the CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16 midweek.

Josh Sargent

Josh Sargent is having a major say in Norwich City’s quest for promotion.

Sargent delivered the winning goal for the Canaries on Saturday as David Wagner’s men defeated Sunderland 1-0 at Carrow Road. The USMNT striker’s confident finish in the Sunderland box broke the deadlock and proved to be the winner.

Sargent now has 11 goals in the EFL Championship, including eight in 2024.

Malik Tillman

PSV’s unbeaten record in Eredivisie play this season remained intact after a 2-2 draw with Feyenoord on Sunday.

USMNT midfielder Malik Tillman delivered the opening goal at the Philips Stadion, excelling from the No. 10 position. Tillman led all players in several categories including duels won (12), dribbles completed (3), and fouls drawn (4).

It has certainly been a productive loan spell for the Bayern Munich loanee.
