Newcastle ‘priority’ revealed after Philip Billing links re-emerge – The Telegraph

Newcastle United plan to persuade Brazilian midfielder Joelinton to renew his contract and are treating it as priority over a potential move for Philip Billing.

Our number seven is out of contract in June 2025, but negotiations reportedly stalled in January, leading some to suggest he may have played his last game for the club after season-ending surgery.

The news came after Newcastle were linked with a summer move for Danish international Phillip Billing, who is priced at around £15million. But according to The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, Newcastle like Billing but there is “nothing happening” amid reports we are lining up a summer move for the 6ft 4′ midfielder.

Billing was a January option who was looked at by the Magpies but no approach was made. Heading into the summer, it’s believed the priority is to persuade Joelinton to sign a new contract. 

Joelinton will miss the rest of the season after having surgery on a thigh injury.
