Three first-team Liverpool stars ‘open’ to extending contracts

Three Liverpool players are reportedly prepared to extend their contracts.

That’s according to a recent report from Football Insider, who claims Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all ‘open’ to signing new deals at Anfield.

Following Jurgen Klopp’s bombshell announcement that he will be leaving at the end of the season, the Reds are entering a period of major transition.

Not only will Klopp be leaving his position, but assistant managers Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, as well as development coach Vitor Matos, will also be leaving their roles.

And despite initial speculation the first-team trio, particularly captain Van Dijk, could leave the club ahead of their contracts expiring in 2025, these latest reports claim the trio are all set to enter into contract renewal talks — a major boost for the club’s owners, FSG, who will be desperate to keep the core of the squad together.

The outcome of the players’ upcoming contract talks, which will start as soon as a new manager and sporting director have been appointed, will depend on how much ambition FSG show post-Klopp.
