New injury concerns for Newcastle as Eddie Howe reveals two problems after Forest win

Eddie Howe has revealed two injury concerns for Callum Wilson and Jacob Murphy following Saturday night’s 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest.

The boss has confirmed that Murphy was “unusable” after complaining of a “tight calf” in the warm up”, while Wilson has a muscle problem in his arm after a late coming together with Moussa Niakhate.

Asked if Wilson was OK after the game, Howe said: “A slight concern for us after the game. His shoulder is fine but there looks to be a problem with the muscle in his arm. We hope it isn’t serious but we don’t know.”

Howe then revealed why Murphy played no part, saying: “Jacob was unusable today. He didn’t feel great in the warm up. We’re still getting challenges. He had a tight calf.”

It was a welcome boost to see Anthony Gordon fit and available after he was seemingly ruled out on Friday by Howe, but a concern to hear Murphy and Wilson have left the City Ground with fresh knocks.

Hopefully both recover in time for next weekend’s clash with Bournemouth at St James’ Park.
