Graham Potter is reportedly about to make an incredible comeback to management at AC Milan, one of the biggest teams in Italy.
The former Brighton and Chelsea manager is on the short list of seven-time Champions League winners to take over at the end of the season, according to talkSPORT.
Still, Potter is not the only former Blues boss to make the elite “shortlist.”
The Italian manager Antonio Conte, who has been unemployed for 10 months after Tottenham fired him in March of last year, is said to be at the top of the list.
Conte is clearly the more desirable choice for Milan, having won league championships with both Juventus and Inter in Italy.
However, Potter’s job search will benefit greatly by being associated with such a prominent club.
The 48-year-old is still unemployed ten months after being fired by Chelsea, and talkSPORT claims he is eager to be back in the dugout as soon as possible.
The former Brighton boss has been recently linked with a move to Manchester United as well, as the club’s new part owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe could look to replace under-fire manager Erik ten Hag.
Stefano Pioli led Milan to the Serie A championship in 2022 and, the following year, to the Champions League semifinals.
However, Milan’s luck has changed this season as the team lost in the UCL group stages. They are currently third in the Serie A, eight points off league leaders and bitter rivals Inter who also have a game in hand.
The Italian giants are looking to replace him in the summer to start a new era at the club. Potter’s last job at Chelsea, where he won only 12 matches out of 31, ended on a bad note.
But his replacement Mauricio Pochettino has done even worse at Stamford Bridge, Potter’s failure at the Premier League club isn’t looking like that big of a disaster.
