According to reports in Sweden, Emil Krafth is expected to sign a contract extension with Newcastle United.
We’ve seen a few handed out in recent months, with Bruno Guimaraes, Lewis Miley and Fabian Schar putting pen to paper, and it seems the Swede has also done enough to earn a new deal.
Fotboll Direkt claim that the player and club have reached an agreement over a one-year extension, extending his deal to the summer of 2025 after his current contract was due to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Krafth made his comeback from a serious ACL injury earlier in the season, impressing in a Carabao Cup win at Old Trafford. His only start in the Premier League came in our 3-0 win over Fulham in December.
Some may have expected the 29-year-old to be released this summer, as he remains behind Kieran Trippier and Tino Livramento in the pecking order at right-back. However, if Fotboll Direkt are to be believed, it seems he’ll stay for another year.
The same report states that Malmo, Copenhagen and Brondby were all keen on signing the Swedish international, but it seems his future could be sorted in the coming weeks.
