Have Newcastle signed a mini Saint-Maximin? – One to watch after another eye-catching display

Ever since Dan Ashworth’s arrival, the club have had a clear focus on attracting some of the country’s top young teenagers to Tyneside.

One of those is Trevan Sanusi; the 16-year-old winger who received serious interest from Premier League rivals Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs and Man City before he sealed a move to St James’ Park last summer.

Since then, the tricky England U17 international has featured in the UEFA Youth League, where he caused havoc against PSG and bagged an assist in our 2-2 draw at Borussia Dortmund, and has recently broken into our U21 side.

He started in Monday night’s 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League Cup and caught the eye once again, with his quick feet, explosive dribbling and pace drawing similarities to former Mag Allan Saint-Maximin and playing a big role in winning us the game.

As you can see below, it was his solo run from the half-way line that won the young Mags a second half penalty, which was converted by Amadou Diallo to seal the victory:

Only 16 but caused havoc in the U21s’ 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Monday night.

Looks a huge talent ⚫️⚪️#NUFC

One to watch in the coming months, as we’re starting to see why Sanusi seemed a real coup for the club’s Academy last summer.
