Journalist Fernando Polo has affirmed via Mundo Deportivo that in-demand midfielder Lucas Bergvall only wants to join Barcelona, but his current team, Djurgardens IF, want him to join Eintracht Frankfurt since they are the highest bidder right now.
Barcelona are absolutely determined not to lose out on Bergvall, but they face a massive hurdle in their pursuit, first from the Bundesliga side as they are offering more money and second from the Swedish team, who want to close the operation as soon as possible because the player’s ongoing contract runs only until 2025.
Time is against Barcelona, but Bergvall is not
Within Barcelona, it is known that Bergvall’s acquisition in January is extremely unlikely because of the troubles with Financial Fair Play, and the plan with Barça Vision, which was supposed to be finalized earlier, hasn’t been carried out yet.
As of today, Djurgardens are pressurising Bergvall to join Frankfurt since the Bundesliga team is offering €10 million for his acquisition while Barcelona are only willing to pay €6 million.
On the other hand, it is to be noted that other clubs like Bayern Munich and Juventus are also interested.
Despite the competition, Barcelona are hopeful about signing Bergvall next summer because he really wants to play for them. Unless there’s a last-minute change in the money offered, the club thinks the deal will be finalized next week, not in the next few days.
This means even if Barcelona manage to strike a deal next week, the player won’t arrive in Catalonia until next summer.
The report over Bergvall that the sporting and scouting department has produced is really impressive.
On the other hand, the club’s sports management really likes him and believes the future of the team should include young players, both from home and abroad, along with some experienced players.
