Newcastle respond to Bayern Munich’s approach for Kieran Trippier – Keith Downie update

Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reports that Newcastle United have REJECTED Bayern Munich’s initial approach for Kieran Trippier.

He states that sources on Tyneside have indicated that Newcastle do not want to lose the right-back either on loan – even if it included an obligation to buy – or on a permanent deal.

However, Downie adds that Trippier ‘could be open to the move’, with this following on from Sky Germany reporting that the 33-year-old has already reached a ‘verbale agreement’ with the Bundesliga giants.

Others have suggested that our vice captain has already had his head turned and is eager to join Harry Kane in Germany, but it seems Newcastle have no intention to let him go over the final 10 days of the January window.

Could our stance change if Bayern come forward with a big offer? If Trippier really does want the move, could we be forced to seriously consider a sale? Who knows, but this is a rumour that has really gathered pace over the past 24 hours.

Bayern Munich have indeed made an approach to Newcastle for Kieran Trippier today, which has been rejected. #NUFC sources indicate they don’t want to lose the defender either on-loan (with obligation) or on a permanent basis.
