With the holiday festivities behind them, Barcelona emerges from the cocoon of the Christmas break.
The weight of recent struggles hangs in the air, with the team currently third in La Liga, but Barça will be looking to put their woes behind them and start afresh.
Ahead of their upcoming encounter against Las Palmas, Xavi has been intensifying the training sessions.
And SPORT have come out to highlight the youth prospects that have trained alongside the seniors under Xavi’s supervision.
Prospects training with the first team
As per the report, Mika Faye, Mamadou Mbacke, Pau Prim, Ander Astralaga, Pau Cubarsi, and Hector Fort have all been a part of the last training session of 2023.
Mbacke and Pau Prim have been two new additions, while the rest have already familiarized themselves with the first team.
Diego Kochen and Marc Guiu have been excluded, with the former training under Xavi yesterday and the latter still in the Juvenil A dynamic.
Despite Guiu’s omission today, though, it is expected the teenage sensation will continue to receive opportunities in the first team, even after Vitor Roque’s arrival.

Chances to participate against Las Palmas
Among all of them, it will be interesting to determine which one has the best chance of making the roster for the forthcoming match against Las Palmas.
Mika Faye would be behind Cubarsi in the pecking order, despite the Senegalese player having already experienced multiple moments with the first team, most recently in the friendly against Club America in Dallas.
With Inigo Martinez still not given medical clearance, Cubarsi is the player with the most chances.
Time will tell who Xavi ends up opting for, but the involvement of the aforementioned players in the training session is a sign of their good work as of late.
