Haji Wright is riding a strong run of form heading into the new year, which is a major boost for promotion-chasing Coventry City.
Wright scored once and assisted once on Friday in the Sky Blues’ 2-2 home Championship draw with Swansea City. The American forward now has seven goals and five assists in 25 league appearances, and overall has contributed a goal or assist in four of his last five outings.
After Swansea City raced out to a 1-0 lead, Coventry battled back just three minutes later through Wright’s equalizer. Kasey Palmer’s pass found Wright in the Swans box before the U.S. men’s national team forward drilled a low shot into the bottom-right corner for a 1-1 scoreline.
Wright came close to doubling his tally in the 65th minute, but his header back across the Swans net was poked in by Ellis Simms. Wright was credited with the assist on the goal, which continued his hot run of form although Simms had the final say on the attacking move.

Despite Coventry’s best efforts to hang on, Liam Cullen’s 93rd minute equalizer helped Swansea City leave with one point in the dying moments of the match. Wright won seven duels, made one recovery, and one dribble attempt in his 90-minute outing.
“We played some good football against a really decent side that are a good side with a lot of good players in there,” Robins said. “Obviously we were disappointed to go a goal down early on, but the response was good we got back into the game with a really well taken goal from Haji.
“It was a really good move, and his touch was good and he’s got it onto to his left foot and found the corner,” he added.
