Barcelona are heading into the January transfer window desperately needing some firepower as they look to get back to form.
Especially in the midfield unit, Barcelona have been rocked by the injury of Gavi while the club have also lacked depth in the department. As a result, the club may look to sign a new midfielder this coming month.
Barcelona set their sights on Aleix Garcia
To that end, Aleix Garcia has emerged as the desired target for Barcelona, as they look to shore up their ranks in the middle of the park.
According to Gerard Romero, Garcia is Barça’s priority for the winter transfer window. The young midfielder currently plies his trade for Girona, who are punching above their weights this season.
In fact, Garcia has been one of Girona’s star performers. His contributions in the middle of the park have played a key role in helping Michel’s men challenge Real Madrid for the league title this term.

During a Twitch livestream from Gerard Romero, Victor Nahe confirmed that Garcia’s agent, who also manages Oriol Romeu, was present in Barcelona’s recent training session.
Even Xavi, who never looks back at the stands, took his time to go and greet the agent.
Barcelona’s plan to sign Garcia
Gerard Romero has further pointed out that Joan Laporta has travelled to Dubai to find a new deal for Barcelona that would allow the club to sign Aleix Garcia in January.
Meanwhile, in the same Twitch stream, journalist Nil Sola has confirmed that Barcelona are weighing up a player plus cash deal, as far as the pursuit of Garcia is concerned.
The Catalans are open to including Pablo Torre and Oriol Romeu as part of the deal, in order to sweeten Aleix Garcia’s valuation.
Girona, for their part, may not mind getting their hands on the highly talented Torre whereas the club still rate Romeu quite highly. So it will be interesting to see how things transpire in the coming weeks.
